Sammy Sees The Doctor
On Friday we took Samuel in for his 9 month checkup. The doctor said that he seemed like a happy baby, which of course Sammy is AS LONG AS HE GETS ATTENTION. The doc said he looked healthy, although he does seem to be a little on the short side (thank the Feucht side of the family for that one!!!). He said Sammy’s growing well though.
Here’s his stats:
Head circumference: 18 1/4″
Length: 27 1/4″
Weight: 19 lb, 8 oz.
Sammy hasn’t been quite as mobile as his brother was at this age. At 9 months Patrick was creeping along the ground on his belly everywhere, and was beginning to pull himself up onto furniture. Sammy hasn’t quite gotten to that point yet. He rolls around on the floor a lot, he can sit up very well, and he can propel himself with his feet when he’s on his back. Not that I mind too much! Once he starts crawling around and pulling himself up onto things, things are going to get a lot more interesting in this house!
In other news, Burble the Gerbil died yesterday. We’re not exactly sure why… but now all three of the baby gerbils we bought in December have died. I wonder if they had some sort of weird over-breeding problem or disease or something, because we were taking care of them and feeding them the same way as our last set, which lasted much longer. The other two that we bought in December died in January, which was strange… we found them dead one morning just out of the blue. Who knows… We told Patrick, but we didn’t show the gerbil to him. He walked around for a little bit saying “Burble die, Burble die”. I don’t think he really knows what it meant, and he’ll forget we even had gerbils before too long. Maybe we’ll get some new ones at some point. We still have Cow the fish, who hasn’t died yet despite everything. Fish aren’t very fun pets though. One of these days we’ll get a puppy, but I’d rather wait until we’re done having babies because I don’t want to have to deal with more than one “baby” in the house at a time!!!
Oh, and speaking of dead animals (since we’re on the topic anyways), Patrick found a dead bird in my parents’ yard on Saturday. I FREAKED when I saw him carrying it. It was one of Katze’s kill… evil cat! (And if you can’t tell, I do not like my mom’s cat, esp. because I’m very allergic to it and my mom refuses to get rid of it!)
Way to go Sammy! He’s getting so big! 🙂
I’m glad you didn’t show Patrick the dead Gerbil. We had a fish once and one day we filled the fish bowl too full. During the night the fish jumped out of the bowl and in the morning I accidentally stepped on it. I was scarred for life. Of course, I was a little older–maybe six–at the time. Good-bye poor Burble.

I think you do well around Katze. I don’t see any signs of you having a terrible allergic reaction. In fact, I think deep down in your heart you actually love Katze and would miss her terribly if she were to die! MOM

Well, Mom! Maybe I’ll give Katze a big kiss, so you can see my lip swell up next time I’m over ;o).

Well, just don”t make a point of kissing Katze on a regular basis! 😉 By the way, I think Katze’s cat friendi is the one that killed the bird.

Are you sure there isn’t any of that rat poison in your gerbil food? Many katze have been eliminated by that stuff …

I miss sammy and patrick. Not katze though (sorry Mrs. Feucht, never been much of a cat lover). On the subject of pets, all the people in our apartment got a goldfish at the beginning of the school year. Most of the fish died within the first month, but ours is still alive! I wonder where he’ll go when school is over? Poor Bowser, I’m gonna miss him.
Have a good one Sarah!

Hi Sarah!
Remember our yellow bird Pheobe who we just gave away? We found out she died the other day too. What is with small animals? They just don’t have a good life expectancy. I highly recommend getting a puppy, they are so much fun! Although I don’t know what it would be like to have to potty train 2 or more people/pets all at once. It could get exhausting.
I am sooo happy for you that you get to go to Hawaii!! Have an absolutely wonderful time. You two definately deserve a honeymoon. Get tan before you go or else you will get so burned you will be sick (happened to my mom). And it is totally worth it to pay a little more money to go to a nice luau (sp.?) We went to one that wasn’t so great, and we felt cheated because it was inside! This time we are going to go to a “real one” — supposedly you have to book the good ones a month in advance. Have you ever been to Hawaii? Okay, well, I guess this comment has turned into more of an email! Have a great time!
