The Magic Hole

June 23rd, 2009

Too cute not to mention.

Today I was unloading the dishwasher when Sammy took out the little clear plastic stopper on the dishwaster door where the jet dry goes in (although we use those jet dry tabs, so we don’t even use it…). I looked at him and told him to put it back right away. He then stuck his finger in where the stopper had just been and said, “Mama, it a magic hole”. I have no idea where he got that idea, but it was definitely cute 🙂

Time Flies…

June 23rd, 2009

Three years ago today we closed on our very first house. We were also preparing for the arrival of our second son, who we didn’t realize would be coming exactly a month and a day later!

Two years ago we were pregnant again, and on the verge of finding out that we were about to have our third boy! We were also preparing to celebrate Sammy’s 1st birthday, in which we did a Very Hungry Caterpillar theme.

One year ago we were preparing to celebrate the second birthday of Sammy with a hedgehog theme. We were also considering the possibility of adding to the family one last time…

So here we are. We’ve lived in this house for 3 years now, which is a good half of our married life. We have also doubled the number of kids we have from almost 2 to almost 4. We have painted 9 rooms in this house, we have added shelves, a plant ledge, network wiring, in-wall speaker wiring, and still have plans for more improvements, including possibly a play/storage room off our family room utilizing dead space under the staircase (but that’s something you’d have to ask Andrew about!).

I definitely never expected that we’d be where we are now when we moved into this house, but it has proven to be a great home for three little active boys and I’m sure we’ll continue to feel that way as we add our fourth little man to the family, along with maybe a puppy in 6-12 months from now 😉

Congratulations, Rachel and Alex!

Patrick wasn’t sure whether or not he wanted to be a surgeon or a Crusader, so he decided to be both 🙂

Seaside, Oregon

June 2nd, 2009

We went down to the Oregon coast this past weekend. The boys had been begging to go to the beach for a while, and we decided it would be fun to try out some new beaches. We normally go to Ocean Shores in WA, but it seems to always rain every time we go there and the town around that beach is a bit run down. It has been years since I’ve been down the Oregon coastline so we weren’t sure what to expect, but we absolutely loved Seaside. The weather was perfect. We got a hotel right along the beach and the boys had an absolute blast playing in the sand and the water. Next time we go we would love to rent a beach house and stay a whole week!

Here are just a few shots from our trip:

Sammy was very timid at first. Patrick sort of jumped right in!
