Mr. Cranky Pants!!!

December 9th, 2008

Yesterday Ethan got some fun fluffy mail. Here’s what he got…

MONSTER BOOTY CRANKY PANTS!!!

He likes them!!!

Not a Fluke!

December 8th, 2008

Ethan walked three more times today… each time only going 3-4 steps before falling, but walking all the same! His problem was that when I was practicing with him, he couldn’t stop laughing and that prevented him from keeping himself steady for very long!!! He’s a funny little guy, but he’s definitely getting it, and I’m sure that within the next month he’ll be walking like a pro :o).

Oh, and Sammy went potty again this morning. We bought him some train undies at the store as a little incentive, since he really likes choo choos. He wore them for a little while before wetting them, but that’s alright. I’m not expecting him to be trained in a day or anything! He’s doing quite well as it is!

Another Exciting Event…

December 8th, 2008

Last night we had another exciting thing happen in our family. I don’t know if I’ve mentioned this on the blog, but Sammy has been lately been showing signs of potty readiness. I recently purchased him a bright red potty and Patrick has been a very good older brother, trying to teach Sammy how to use it.  I’ve been very laid back about everything, since we had several false starts when it came to teaching Patrick, but something happened last night that is making me think that Sammy might train a little earlier than his brother did…

I was getting the boys ready for bed last night and I had just put a fresh diaper and a pair of wool pants on Sammy. I stood him up and he seemed very upset and started crying. He was pointing sort of in the general direction of the kitchen, so at first I thought he was still hungry, or perhaps a little miffed that we hadn’t given him dessert. It didn’t seem to bother him. I tried asking him questions as to why he was upset and finally I asked him if he had to go potty, and immediately he said he did. So I quickly pulled off the pants and diapers and stood him up to see him run to the potty. I followed closely behind, to see if this was really happening. He sat down and immediately went… not just a little tinkle like he’s been doing for the most part, but he really went… almost like he had been holding it in order that he could make it to the potty. So, that was definitely very exciting. I definitely hadn’t counted on him learning anytime soon, but I’m thinking that we might not actually be as far away as I had thought! Yay!

Belated B-day Present!

December 7th, 2008

This is going to be quick because I have to get the boys ready for evening church, but Ethan gave me a belated birthday present this morning (my b-day was yesterday, btw, and we celebrated in the city of my birth, Portland OR!). Anyways, Ethan was a fuss all morning and I couldn’t get him to go nicely in the nursery, so I spent church in the nursery with him. In order to make up for being a Mr. Crabby Pants, near the end of nursery I put Ethan on his feet and he stood for a moment before taking three steps to reach me. HE WALKED!!!! I was so thrilled :o). Of course, he hasn’t done it since (just like how Patrick was… maybe tomorrow!), but he definitely did it and I know that once he fully gets the hang of this, I’m probably going to regret all the excitement I have right now ;o)

We Have A Problem…

December 2nd, 2008

Today I had one of those completely red-faced moments… I took Patrick to preschool and since we had brought the snack and it was heavy, they let us in before everyone else while the teachers were trying to scarf down their lunch. I put the snack away, took Patrick to go potty, and then we put his coat in his box. By the time we were done, the teachers had finished their 5 minute lunch break, and Patrick’s teacher started talking to him about going to the room. Patrick started walking into the room and when he had just gone through the door and was out of my line of sight, I realized that his teacher started making a face like she was trying not to laugh. I peaked around the corner and there was Patrick, with his pants dropped to his ankles, showing his teacher that he had spiderman undies. I nearly died!!!! We definitely need to teach Patrick that dropping your pants is not something to do in front of people, and I’m just hoping that he hasn’t done it again for any of his classmates today at preschool… boy oh boy!!!!
